Vula Malinga of Basement Jaxx fame does the solo thing with her own tunes and band, you know her voice, check her out as she does her own thing, we caught her at RISE festival in Finsbury Park last year and she was dope, last time I caught her was at Deviation, don't miss her at LOOKOUT!
she last blessed our stage and mic rocking with Yarah Bravo, now check her onthe solo tip.
Mestiza is currently working on her debut album with producers Paradox and Colin Emmanuel (Beverley Knight/ KRS:One/ Terri Walker). She features as part of the 'Latin Dub Soundsystem', a collective brought together by Corin Pennington (Rodney P/Benjamin Zephaniah). She also features as part of the 'Yarah Bravo' show (Oneself/ DJ Vadim) a hiphop/ soul fusion that brings the party back! She has performed at venues and festivals such as Glastonbury, The Jazz cafe, Koko's, Hammersmith Appollo, Lovebox, Roskilde and Cargo, to name a few! For bookings or enquiries please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. To find Mestiza on facebook search for the group 'La musique of Mestiza'.
Chima from GTA described them to me as "on that boom bap shit with new school swagger"
Priding themselves on making music as opposed to "just rapping to beats", their formation as a duo of lyricists was effortless as fate drew the destined together at the same school. The two prolific MC's soon caught the attention of neighbouring producers, through various local appearances, and the concept of GTA was born.
Retaining the same brand of infectious enthusiasm and energy which the world first tasted when hip-hop made the transition from the block party to world wide phenomenon, GTA have performed along the sides of more established UK artists such as Sway, Soweto Kinch, Ironbridge, Kyza, Yungun, Task force and US acts such as Flava Flav, DJ Format and Abdominal and Ugly Duckling. Their live shows are always received well and often end up being the talk of the night.
