O2 wireless and more

Went O2 wireles festival Thursday, took the day off work, really wanted to catch the Cool Kids as i missed them at dpmhi, although i heard they weren't amazing and after their show dphmi smelled like a stable. Of course wanted to see Jay Z, and planned to check mark ronson, roisin murphy, saul williams and maybe red snapper.

got there late just in time for the cool kids last track, was it 88 or black mags? i think i caught the end of black mags then they finsihed with '88. the skinny one was rocking the same fluro oakley frogskins my flatmate just bought. i was drinking a half and half 500ml mix of ginger beer and wray and nephew. many brain cells were lost in the two days at O2. anyways they sounded ok but looked a little lost on such a big stage and although they had a couple fo hundred or some people ito play to it still looked very empty in context, but i'm sure they'll have better billing at future events...

my boy tom who hooked me up with a guest past took us over to lethal bizzle who had a very full tent but not great sound, but had very good crowd response and a good vibe even though i couldnt undertsand what he was sayin most of the time. he also did a nice medlet of well known hip hop crowd pleasers, singing the choruses and then his own verses over things like "Who Am I (What's My Name)?" - snoop dogg, jump around - house of pain, the next episode - dre

caught a bit of saul williams set who was on some glam rock look industrial electronica, was kinda cool but not really my thing, i like his intro spoken word peice which was really just a listing of notable black (groundbreaking?) figures from history... so then i jetted to...

roisin murphy, she pretty good, i liked moloko back in the day, i was feeling her set and playfullness with her backup singers/dancers and her multiple on stage costume changes and crazy platform high heels where the heel was flipped to actually be the sole. then the heavens opened and the rain came down, ran into shan on my way to cover and hot chips. mmm chips... was unimpressed by the dj's from embassy who run the guest tents, the most bland commerical pop r'n'b whatever shite that i'd never heard and never want to hear again...

after that went to check hot chip who to me was frankly boring, not really into their stuff anyways but i think it's better recorded than live...

by this i had found some other like minded trouble makers to get into mischief with and it was all about mark ronson in preperation for a good crowd sport for jay z. he did not dissapoint. i had heard mixed reviews about glastonbury, with some heads not feeling him, last live gig i saw him do on tv did not impress me and i thought maybe fade to black was the peak of his live set. no. dude was dope! straight fire. i give mad props to dude, he brings it. i'm sure he converted some of the non believers and he gave me just what i was after and one of the best live hip hop performances i've seen in time. recommened...

oh ps i went saturday too, was not as good, 3 times as many peeps, everyone of their heads, fat boy slim is a shit dj...
